Mission Statement:  To mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ

All women of All Saints Lutheran Church are considered members of WELCA.

WELCA sponsors many projects including the collection of non-perishable food for People Helping People, the collection of caps, mittens, scarves, toys and other gift items for LSSI at Christmastime, the creation and delivery of many beautiful quilts to Lutheran World Relief, and collecting and assembling items for health kits and baby layettes, also for LWR.  We have also been supporting the Lutheran World Relief Global Initiative by selling fair trade coffee, and recently added fair trade almonds to our offerings.  WELCA also serves as needed for funerals, receptions, and other special fellowship occasions.

Are you interested in connecting with other women in our congregation? You are a part of WELCA – Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. You are invited and encouraged to join in all the activities organized by WELCA. We have a brief fellowship and organizational meeting four times a year. Throughout the year we have several activities in which you may have already taken part. In the Spring we hold a rummage sale fundraiser and a Spring Ladies Luncheon. In November we have held a bake sale. The proceeds of the fundraiser have helped to purchase non-budgeted items for the church and help subsidize youth activities. There are many women’s groups that meet monthly such as the Quilters, the Gathering, and Book club.

Ladies of All Saints, April is a busy month for us.  We have the bake sale on April 9th and  need you to bring goodies for the sale. You  can bring plates or containers of cookies,  brownies, cakes, or whatever is your favorite to share on Saturday, April 8th from 11 am to noon. Marlene Roberts will be at church  setting up and you can drop off your  donation then.  Or bring in your treats on  Sunday, the 9th when you come to church.

We have the rummage sale as you saw on the back page. If you can bake something for the bake sale on Thursday,  April 20th, it would be greatly appreciated.  Please bring your baked goods to the
Masonic Lodge on Wednesday the 19th during drop off times, or early on Thursday morning. We need volunteers, both men and women, to work the  days of drop off  (sorting, setting up, stacking, pricing) as well as the days of the sale. And we need volunteers, especially men, to help pack up  items that did not sell at the close of the sale on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 pm for pick up by Serenity House, or Rockford Rescue Mission. If you can volunteer for a few hours during one or more of these days, it would be greatly appreciated.  Please  volunteer by signing up on Bulletin Board #2 or by calling Marlene Roberts at 815-218-1134.

Our next WELCA Meeting is April 29th at  9:30 am. This again is a breakfast potluck, so bring a breakfast or brunch food to share.  We will get a report about the bake sale and the rummage sale and information about different types of blinds and some  approximate costs. Plan to join us and invite someone new to come.
